Across the St. Croix is an independent sports publication for the fans who live, work, and root on both sides of the Minnesota–Wisconsin border.

We cover the teams that matter here: the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers on the Wisconsin side; the Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves, and Wild on the Minnesota side. These aren’t distant franchises—they’re part of our communities, our conversations, and our rivalry traditions.

Our coverage includes game analysis, previews, reactions, and informed opinions. We dig into the stories behind the stats, ask the questions fans actually want answered, and aren’t afraid to challenge conventional thinking—all while keeping the conversation grounded in what makes the sport compelling.

We believe sports are more meaningful when you’re invested. That means you’ll find opinions here, sometimes strong ones. But this publication is built on being thoughtful, fair, and generous enough to acknowledge when the other side of the river makes a good point.

About Me

I’m Zach, the voice behind Across the St. Croix—a Wisconsin native and lifelong Packers, Brewers, and Bucks fan with a home on the Minnesota–Wisconsin border.

Living and working in the Twin Cities has given me a front-row seat to Minnesota sports as well. I’ve become a Timberwolves and Wild fan, which makes things interesting when the two states collide on the field or court. The St. Croix isn’t just a river that divides us—it’s the center of a shared sports culture.

I’ve always been drawn to deep sports conversations: analyzing what happened in a game, questioning coaching decisions, examining statistics from multiple angles, debating roster moves, and thinking about what comes next. These conversations matter more when there’s real passion behind them.

That’s the foundation of Across the St. Croix. I’m not a beat reporter with inside sources, and I’m not pretending to be. I’m a fan who loves digging deeper into the teams and leagues I follow and sharing that perspective with others who feel the same way.

My goal is straightforward: create the kind of sports coverage I enjoy reading. Informative but accessible. Opinionated but honest. Written for people who genuinely love talking sports.
